Representative Sara Hannan Contact information

Sara Hannan is a member of the Democratic Party and represents District 4 in the Alaska House of Representatives. She assumed office on January 17, 2023, and her current term ends on January 21, 2025. She ran for re-election to the Alaska House of Representatives to represent District 4 and won in the general election on November 8, 2022.

Born in Alaska, Sara Hannan lives in Juneau. She graduated from West Anchorage High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. Her career experience includes teaching high school for 21 years and serving as co-owner of a small business selling locally caught fish.

In addition to her professional career, Hannan has been actively involved in various service organizations. She volunteered on the Alaska board of directors for the National Education Association and the executive board of the Juneau Education Association. She also volunteered for the Salvation Army in Juneau.

Throughout her tenure, Hannan has been assigned to various committees. In 2023-2024, she was assigned to the House Finance Committee, Select Committee on Legislative Ethics, and the Legislative Council Committee. In 2021-2022, she was assigned to the House Resources Committee, House Transportation Committee (Vice chair), Legislative Council Committee (Chair), and House Community & Regional Affairs Committee (Co-chair). In 2019-2020, she was assigned to the House Community & Regional Affairs Committee (Co-chair), House Labor & Commerce Committee, and House Resources Committee.

Sara Hannan is a lifelong Alaskan and has lived in Juneau for 32 years. She spent three decades in education, teaching high school for 21 years. She loves engaging in her community as a volunteer, working to support women, those less fortunate, and the environment. Her husband Mark and she have a small business selling locally caught fish. She loves exploring the outdoors in the beautiful and wet Southeast rainforest.
