Thomas A. Delnicki, commonly known as Tom Delnicki, is a Republican American politician currently serving in the Connecticut House of Representatives from the 14th district. He has held this position since 2017.

Tom Delnicki represents the 14th General Assembly District of South Windsor, first elected in November 2016. Tom serves on the legislature’s Planning and Development Committee, the budget-writing Appropriations Committee and the Insurance and Real Estate Committee and will serve as the Ranking Member of the Banking Committee.

Tom is a lifelong resident of South Windsor. Tom grew up at 130 Felt Rd where he is a fourth generation to live on the last piece of his family’s farm, which was established by his great grandfather in the early 1900s. Tom graduated from South Windsor High in 1974 and attended the University of Connecticut. Tom recently retired from the Metropolitan District as a Facilities/Maintenance Supervisor. Locally, Tom is best known for his spectacular holiday light display, which he hosts every December at his home.

Tom has served on the South Windsor Town Council from 1995 to 2007 and 2009 to present. During his time on the Council Tom has been Mayor twice, Deputy Mayor, and served on the first Strategic Planning Committee formed in 1999. He chaired the Ethics Committee, Audit Committee, Public Health and Safety Committee and Public Building and Land Naming Committee.

Tom is proud to have passed major legislation to create a “Captive Insurance Company” to rebuild crumbling foundations and also served on the organizational Committee that created the Captive. and is Co-Chair of the Crumbling Foundation Caucus.

Championed a fair rent commission so renters in Connecticut and in South Windsor can get their voices heard Worked across party lines to assist those most affected by COVID Improved the affordability for state residents by supporting the scheduled phase out of the state tax on pensions and annuities Protecting our local shellfish industry vital to the region Working to preserve local control of zoning and oppose the state-takeover Vocal advocate for improved public safety and addresses the rise in juvenile crime & fought attempts to eliminate School Resource Officers (SRO) in schools Voted for landmark legislation on climate change mitigation Supported legislation to expand coverage for women’s healthcare Supported a bill to increase protections for children by ensuring coaches, teachers or instructors pass an extensive background check Prior to being elected to the Town Council, Tom was a member of the Board of Education and a member of the Inland Wetlands/Conservation Commission.
