Brent J. Crane, born on July 2, 1974, is an American politician who has been serving as a member of the Idaho House of Representatives for the 13A district. He has also held the position of assistant majority leader since 2010.

Brent J. Crane, born on July 2, 1974, is an American politician who has been serving as a member of the Idaho House of Representatives for the 13A district. He has also held the position of assistant majority leader since 2010.

Crane was born in Nampa, Idaho, U.S., and is a member of the Republican Party. He is the son of Ron Crane and has a brother named Jaron Crane. He completed his high school education at Nampa Christian School and later earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Boise State University.

In his political career, Crane has expressed interest in running for Idaho’s 1st congressional district seat in the future. In the 2016 elections, Crane was unopposed in the Republican primary and the general election. He supported Ted Cruz in the 2016 Republican Party presidential primaries and introduced him at a Boise State University rally in March 2016.

In the 2014 elections, Crane won the Republican primary with 2,592 votes (74.3%) against Patrick N O’Brien. He was unopposed in the general election. In the 2012 elections, Crane was unopposed in the Republican primary and defeated Clayton Trehal in the general election with 10,706 votes (67.4%).

In 2010 and 2008, Crane was unopposed for both the Republican primary and the general election. In 2006, when Republican Representative Dolores Crow retired and left the seat open, Crane won the Republican primary with 3,296 votes (57.5%) against Jim Barnes. He won the general election with 10,631 votes (68.72%) against Democratic Party nominee Douglas Yarbrough and Libertarian nominee Dennis Weiler.

Outside of his political career, Crane is the Vice President of Crane Alarm Service, a family-owned security and fire alarm business that has been located in Nampa since 1964. He is known as an advocate for a strong economy and a business-friendly environment. He received the Friend of Agriculture award in multiple years and was selected by his peers to be the Vice Chairman of the Legislative Business Caucus in 2010.

Crane is active in his community, having served as an Ad Hoc member of the Nampa Chamber of Commerce Executive Board. He coaches youth basketball for Nampa Christian Schools. His company was selected by the TV show Extreme Makeover Edition to install the security system for the Ryan Stockdale family. Crane’s company also provided the security for the 2009 Special Winter Olympics.

A life-long resident of Canyon County, Crane is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys playing golf, fly fishing, and shooting clay targets. When not on the golf course, Crane can be found on the beach in South Florida reading a good book. Crane and his wife, Rochenda, have two children, a son Keaton and a daughter Riley.
