Clay Handy Woude is a dedicated public servant and a fourth-generation Idahoan. He has been serving the people of Idaho for more than 35 years in various capacities.

Born and raised in Cassia County, Clay has deep roots in the community. He has served on the Burley City Council for eight years, contributing to the development and growth of the city. His commitment to public service didn’t stop there. He also served as a Cassia County commissioner for eight years, working tirelessly to improve the county’s infrastructure and services.

In addition to his political roles, Clay has been actively involved in the healthcare sector. He was a board member of the Cassia Regional Hospital for 13 years and served as its chairman for eight years. He is currently the chairman of the Cassia Regional Hospital Foundation, continuing his efforts to improve healthcare services in the region.

Clay’s leadership extends to the business sector as well. He has been the chairman of the Burley Area Development Association for eight years, promoting economic growth and development in the area. He has also served twice as the president of the Idaho Trucking Association, advocating for the interests of the trucking industry.

He has been a part of various statewide and regional transportation advisory boards, the Zions Bank Advisory Board, and the South Idaho Community Action Board for eight years. He is a current member of the HEM board.

Clay is not just all work and no play. He enjoys outdoor activities like hiking, skiing, fishing, and river rafting with his family. He is married to Kristine Hansen and they have six children.

In 2023, Clay assumed office as a member of the Idaho House of Representatives from the 27th (B) district. He succeeded Fred Wood and has been serving the people of Idaho in this capacity since then.

Clay is also an American businessman. He is the President and CEO of Handy Truck Line, a regional trucking company. His business acumen and leadership skills have contributed to the success of the company.

During his tenure, Clay cosponsored the “Clean Slate Act,” which would allow criminal records to be sealed in the case of some minor, non-violent offenses. This act reflects his commitment to reforming the criminal justice system and giving people a second chance.
