Suzy Glowiak Hilton for Senator
Suzy Glowiak Hilton is a Democratic member of the Illinois Senate from the 24th district. The 24th district includes all or parts of Clarendon Hills, Downers Grove, Elmhurst, Glen Ellyn, Hinsdale, Lisle, Lombard, Oak Brook, Villa Park, Western Springs, Westmont, and Willowbrook. Glowiak narrowly defeated Republican incumbent Chris Nybo in the 2018 general election. She took office on January 9, 2019.
Before her election to the Illinois Senate, Glowiak served two terms as a member of the Western Springs Board of Trustees. As of April 2023, Senator Glowiak is a member of the following Illinois Senate committees: Licensed Activities (Chair), Transportation, Energy and Public Utilities, Special Committee on Pensions, and Appropriations of Health and Human Services.
Glowiak Hilton has committed her life to public service and giving back to her community. She will use her proven skills as an empathetic leader, problem solver, and dedicated public servant to represent the 23rd State Senate District in Springfield. She served two terms on the Recreation Commission, including two years as its Chair. The residents of Western Springs recognized her dedication to her community and elected her Village Trustee in 2009 and 2013.
During her tenure on the Western Springs Village Board, Glowiak Hilton has been a voice for balanced budgets. While chairing the Public Works and Water committees, she took major steps in improving the water quality with the construction of a new water purification plant. She also served on the Planning and Zoning Committee and was the Chair of the General Government Committee.
Professionally, Glowiak Hilton works as an engineering consultant in the western suburbs assisting clients in conflict resolution through report writing and expert testimony. She raised three children in Western Springs where she and her family have resided for over 25 years.
Glowiak Hilton is a mechanical engineer by trade and believes in working in a bipartisan manner to promote compromise and collaboration in order to find meaningful solutions to lower property tax bills, ensure our schools and universities have the resources to be successful and keep Illinois’ children safe. She is a former Village Trustee in Western Springs where she served as a voice for balanced budgets. She holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology and a Masters in Manufacturing Engineering from Northwestern University.
