Senator Chris Garten Contact information

State Sen. Chris Garten has represented Hoosiers in Senate District 45, which includes Clark County and a portion of Floyd County, since 2018. Garten serves as Senate Majority Floor Leader, chair of the Senate Committee on Joint Rules, ranking member of the Senate Committee on Rules and Legislative Procedure, and is a member of the Senate Committee on Appropriations and the State Budget Committee.

He is the president and founder of Signature Countertops, Inc., a small business located in Jeffersonville that specializes in granite, marble, quartz, and quartzite countertops. Garten was also a Gunnery Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, having served two tours in Iraq in 2003 and 2005-2006.

Garten currently serves on the One Southern Indiana Advocacy Council; the Scott County Public Defender Board; Indiana Farm Bureau; the American Legion; the Marine Corps League, and is a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and National Rifle Association. He previously served on the Scott County Chamber of Commerce as vice president and the Indiana Builders Association Board.

Garten was named Young Entrepreneur of the Year by the Indiana Southeast Business Development Center (2012), to the “20 Under 40” list by Southern Indiana Business Source (2016), and as the James W. Robinson Young Professional of the Year by One Southern Indiana (2017). He was also awarded the Dale Carnegie Course Highest Achievement Award by his peers after completing the Dale Carnegie Leadership Course (2015). The Greater Scott County Chamber of Commerce awarded Signature Countertops Small Business of the Year in 2014 and 2015.

Garten and his wife, Beth, have three sons and three dogs. He loves watching his sons play basketball and baseball and is passionate about spending time with family, hunting, and enjoying the outdoors.
