Bradley Zaun, known as Brad Zaun, is an influential figure in Iowa politics. He is a member of the Republican Party and has been serving as an Iowa State Senator since 2005. He represents the 22nd District and also holds the position of the Iowa Senate President pro tempore.

Born on February 23, 1962, in Des Moines, Iowa, Brad Zaun received his Bachelor’s degree from Grand View College. Before his political career, he was the owner of Zaun’s Trustworthy Hardware and served as the Vice President of R&R Realty Marketing Group.

His journey into public service began at the local level in Urbandale, where he first served as a city council member from 1996 to 1998. He then served as the mayor of Urbandale from 1998 to 2005. During his tenure as mayor, Urbandale saw unprecedented commercial and residential growth and achieved the highest national quality of life rankings of any city in Iowa.

In the Iowa Senate, Senator Zaun has been a tireless advocate for his constituents. He serves on several committees, including the Judiciary committee, the Labor and Business Relations committee, the Rules and Administration committee, the Transportation committee, and the Ways and Means committee, where he is the ranking member. He also serves on the Justice Systems Appropriations committee.

Throughout his career, Senator Zaun has successfully advocated for the passage of numerous bills and programs to expand educational access for all Iowans, increase access to healthcare including mental health services and medical cannabis, and support small businesses and job creators. He has also worked to rein in government spending.

In addition to his political career, Senator Zaun has been active in his community. He has served on several local boards and commissions and is a current member of the Urbandale Breakfast Lions Club and the Iowa Jobs for America’s Graduates board.

Senator Zaun’s dedication to public service and his commitment to the people of Iowa have earned him recognition throughout his career. He was the 1994 nominee for the Iowa/Nebraska Entrepreneur of the Year and a 2001 40 Under 40 Award recipient. In 2004, he was inducted into the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame after serving as its President.
