Gary Mohr

Gary Mohr, born on December 15, 1951, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, is an American politician and a member of the Republican Party. He is currently serving as the representative for the 93rd District in the Iowa House of Representatives.

Education

Mohr earned a bachelor’s degree in social sciences/economics from Northwest Missouri State University. He also holds a master’s degree in higher education administration and adult education from Iowa State University.

Career

Before his political career, Mohr worked as a community college administrator. He has also served on the Iowa Public Information Board and the UnityPoint Trinity Hospital Foundation Board.

Political Career

Mohr was elected to the Iowa House of Representatives in 2016. He assumed office for the 93rd District on January 1, 2023. His current term ends on January 1, 2025.

In the 2023-2024 legislative session, Mohr was assigned to several committees including the House Appropriations Committee (Chair), House Commerce Committee, Public Safety Committee, Capital Projects Committee (Co-Chair), and Fiscal Committee (Co-Chair).

In the 2021-2022 legislative session, Mohr served on the House Appropriations Committee (Chair) and House Commerce Committee.

In the 2019-2020 legislative session, Mohr served on the House Appropriations Committee, House Commerce Committee, and Public Safety Committee.

Elections

In the general election for the Iowa House of Representatives District 93 held on November 8, 2022, incumbent Gary Mohr defeated Ryan Carstensen. Mohr received 59.9% of the votes (8,702 votes), while Carstensen received 40.1% of the votes (5,824 votes).

Personal Life

Gary Mohr resides in Bettendorf, Iowa. He is married to Jane and they have four sons and eleven grandchildren.
