Adam Thomas for Representative
Adam Thomas is an American politician serving as a member of the Kansas House of Representatives from the 26th district. He assumed office in 2019.
Born in St. Charles, Missouri, Thomas was raised in Olathe, Kansas. He attended Belmont University for his higher education. Outside of politics, Thomas has experience working as a restaurant manager. He has managed multiple restaurants in Kansas, showcasing his leadership and management skills.
Thomas was elected to represent District 26 in the Kansas House of Representatives in 2018. During his campaign, he faced accusations that he lived outside his district. He was later charged with election perjury for giving a false address on election documents and reached a diversionary agreement.
In the 2021–2022 legislative session, he served as vice chair of the House Education Committee. He has been a member of the Olathe Youth Symphony Association Board of Directors, the Lenexa Baptist Church Praise Band, and was a watchdog at Heritage Elementary School.
In terms of committee assignments, Thomas has been assigned to several committees over the years. In the 2019-2020 session, he was a member of the House Federal and State Affairs Committee, House Education Committee, and K-12 Education Budget Committee. In the 2021-2022 session, he served on the Water Committee, House Education Committee (as Vice Chair), and K-12 Education Budget Committee. In the 2023-2024 session, he served as the Chair of the House Education Committee, and was a member of the House Federal and State Affairs Committee and K-12 Education Budget Committee.
On June 22, 2023, Thomas filed to run for the 23rd Senate district in 2024. The Republican incumbent, Rob Olson, opted not to seek reelection. Thomas won the general election for Kansas House of Representatives District 26 on November 8, 2022, securing his current term which ends on January 13, 2025.
