Daniel Fister for Representative
Daniel Fister is a representative for the 56th District in the Kentucky House of Representatives. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky, and is the oldest of six children. He grew up on a family farm in northern Fayette County, where he developed a strong work ethic and a love for the land and nature.
Fister graduated from Lexington Catholic High School and went on to study Ag Production at the University of Kentucky, Police Administration at Eastern Kentucky University, and holds a degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting from Eastern Kentucky University.
At the age of nineteen, he married his high school sweetheart, Vickie Kain Fister. They have two grown sons and a granddaughter. They celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary in the year of the search.
A year after getting married, Fister started a small construction contracting business, which he retired from after thirty-four years. He also served as a Deputy to the Fayette County Jailer where he held the rank of Sergeant, served as a Deputy and assistant bookkeeper to the Fayette County Clerk, and was the senior accountant for the U.S. operations of a small multinational corporation.
Fister has always been involved in his community through his church and various non-profit organizations. He is a Pro-Life conservative Christian and believes in standing up for the unborn and those that cannot speak for themselves, our Nation’s Constitution, and our environment.
He is a life member of the Bluegrass Sportsmen’s League and has served five terms as President and seventeen years as a member of their Board of Directors. He is also a life member of the League of Kentucky Sportsmen and has served five years as a member of their Board of Directors.
Fister has served three terms as Grand Knight of his local council of the Knights of Columbus at Saint Leo’s Church in Versailles, Kentucky. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Central Kentucky Right to Life.
He has been recognized for his work in conservation and our environment, most notably when Governor Paul Patton appointed him to the Kentucky Land Heritage Fund Board in 2001 and when he was named the Conservationist of the Year by the Kentucky Wildlife Federation Foundation in 2005.
Fister served as Chairman of the Woodford County Republican Party from 2016 – 2022. He was recognized as a Conservative Kentucky Lawmaker by the American Conservative Union Foundation in 2021 and represents Kentucky on the Southern Legislative Conference of the Council of State Governments’ Agriculture Committee for 2022.
