Laurie Osher for Representative
Laurie Osher is a Democratic politician from Maine, who serves as the state representative for District 25. She was born in California on June 8, 1960, and moved to Maine in 2010. She has a Ph.D. in soil science from Cornell University and has worked as an environmental consultant and educator. She is the founder and president of Osher Environment Systems, a company that provides sustainable solutions for water, wastewater, and energy.
Osher is serving her second term in the Maine House of Representatives. She is the House chair of the Veterans and Legal Affairs Committee. She is also the Legislature’s representative to the HIV Advisory Committee and the State Calendar Working Group. She is the leader of the Progressive Women’s Caucus, LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus, and the Jewish Legislator’s Caucus. She is a member of the Council of State Governments Eastern Regional Conference and the National Caucus of Environmental Legislators.
Osher is passionate about health care reform, climate change, social justice, and rural development. She has sponsored bills to expand Medicaid, protect voting rights, ban conversion therapy, support renewable energy, and promote organic agriculture. She has also advocated for the rights of immigrants, refugees, veterans, seniors, and people with disabilities.
Osher lives in Orono, Maine, with her husband, David, and their two dogs. She has two adult children, Rachel and Ben, who live in New York and California, respectively. She enjoys hiking, biking, gardening, and reading.
