Yolonda Fountain Henderson for Representative
State Representative Yolonda Fountain Henderson, a Democrat, represents part of St. Louis County (District 85) in the Missouri House of Representatives. District 85 includes Jennings, Flordell Hills, Country Club Hills, Northwoods, Pine Lawn, Dellwood, and Moline Acres. Henderson was elected to her first two-year term in November 2022.
Prior to her service in the legislature, Henderson served as the first African American female mayor for the City of Jennings. She also served as the first African American female city councilwoman for Jennings. Henderson was most recently elected to serve as secretary of the Missouri Legislative Black Caucus.
Henderson is a graduate of Jennings Senior High School and North County Technical High School. She graduated from Hickey Business College in Accounting.
Henderson has advocated for the Jennings School District and was elected to the Jennings School Board. During her time as board president, the school district received a CUBE Award. She also has served with the Parents Teachers Student Organization, Missouri School Board Association, National School Board Association, CUBE Steering Committee, the Jennings Back to School Jamboree Committee, and as chairperson on the Alumni Committee.
Henderson is an active volunteer and has dedicated her time to working in the food pantry and with the Urban League for the distribution of food. She has also served on clean-up committees by picking up trash throughout various cities such as Jennings, Castle Point, and Kinloch. She also has volunteered her time at the gardens in the City of Jennings.
Henderson was born in St. Louis and currently resides there. She has two children and two grandchildren. Henderson attends Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church. She sings in Victory Sisters and Gospel Jubilees.
