Representative Derek Harvey - Contact Information

Derek Harvey is a member of the Democratic Party and represents District 74 in the Montana House of Representatives. He assumed office on January 7, 2019, and his current term is set to end on January 6, 2025. Harvey ran for re-election to continue representing District 74 in the Montana House of Representatives and won in the general election held on November 8, 2022.

During his tenure, he has been assigned to various committees. For the years 2023-2024, he served on the Business and Labor Committee as Vice Chair, and was also part of the Energy, Technology, and Federal Relations Committee and the House Rules Committee. In the years 2021-2022, he was assigned to the House Local Government Committee, House Rules Committee, Transportation Committee, and Business and Labor Committee. In his initial years from 2019-2020, he served on the Business and Labor Committee, House Local Government Committee, and the Transportation Committee.

Harvey has sponsored several pieces of legislation, including bills to revise alcohol laws relating to catering endorsements, repeal termination dates relating to certain Workers’ Compensation Programs, revise vehicle registration laws regarding military personnel, and revise workers compensation laws to increase benefits. He also sponsored bills revising candidate self-finance laws and establishing the Montana family and medical leave insurance act.
