Dr. David Nagel

Dr. David Nagel is a specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, with a focus on pain management, acupuncture, and interventional pain management, based in Concord, New Hampshire, for the past thirty years. His professional interests include doctor-patient communication, advocacy, and social justice for individuals suffering from chronic pain. Dr. Nagel is the author of the critically acclaimed book “Needless Suffering; How Society Fails Those with Chronic Pain.” This book has been described as a self-help book for society with the potential to change the conversation around pain in America. “Needless Suffering” examines the sociological aspects of how society often mistreats those with chronic pain and suggests ways to improve through public policy and personal behavior.

Dr. Nagel is one of the founders of the New Hampshire Pain Collaborative and the President and founder of the Nagel Pain Community. Both are non-profit organizations committed to educating the public, health professionals, and legislators about the needs of chronic pain sufferers. Additionally, he is an Ambassador for the US Pain Foundation and the Pain Connection, both of which are patient advocacy groups. Dr. Nagel serves on the NFL Players Association Pain Committee and co-chairs the pain management best practices sub-committee, contributing to several initiatives that define best practices for pain management.

For the past 35 years, Dr. Nagel has been a dedicated advocate for the rights of those suffering from pain and neurological disabilities, working at local, state, and national levels. He currently represents Belknap County District 6 in New Hampshire as a State Representative.
