About Senator Bill Sharer - Republican Representative of New Mexico
William E. “Bill” Sharer (born September 22, 1959) is an American politician who has served as a Republican member of the New Mexico State Senate since 2001. His district, fully situated in San Juan County, includes most, if not all, of the city of Farmington.
Biography: Bill Sharer earned his A.A. from the New Mexico Military Institute in 1979 and his B.A. from New Mexico State University in 1981. His professional journey includes various roles, from owning the Popcorn Patch to managing a Taco Bell. However, he is best known as the owner of the Credit Bureau of Farmington. Additionally, Sharer served in the United States Army from 1982 to 1992.
Committee Assignments: During his tenure, Sharer has been actively involved in legislative committees. In the 2023-2024 session, he was assigned to the Finance Committee as the Ranking Member. In previous sessions, he served on committees such as Tax, Business & Transportation, Indian, Rural & Cultural Affairs, Corporations and Transportation, and Conservation.
