Amy S. Galey is a Republican Senator from North Carolina. She represents District 25, which includes Alamance and Randolph counties. Her office is located at 300 N. Salisbury Street, Rm. 521, Raleigh, NC 27603. She has served two terms in the Senate.

Amy was born and raised in Union Ridge, Alamance County. Her parents are Dr. Sam and Connie Scott. She graduated from Western Alamance High School, UNC Chapel Hill, and the University of North Carolina School of Law. She is licensed to practice law in North Carolina, South Carolina, and the District of Columbia.

Concerned about the growth in the region, Amy ran for Alamance County Commissioner and was elected in 2016. She served as Chair of the Alamance County Board of Commissioners from 2017-2020.

In her first term as a North Carolina Senator, Amy helped pass the Dignity for Incarcerated Women Act. This act ensured that incarcerated women in labor would not be shackled or chained during delivery. It also provided for parenting classes, nutrition, and other important health considerations for pregnant incarcerated women.

Amy also secured critical funding for the district in the 2021-2022 budget, including tens of millions of dollars. Some of the appropriations included $15M for an EMS facility for Alamance County, $15.8M for water and sewer projects for Burlington, $800,000 for volunteer fire departments, $541,447 for the Town of Green Level, $2M for the Snow Camp Fire Department, $21M for a water treatment facility in Mebane, $500,000 for water and sewer improvements for Haw River, and $10M for water treatment in Graham.

Amy lives in Union Ridge, on the farm that formerly belonged to her grandparents, with her husband, Fred. They have three children, two dogs, and three cats.

She is a Fellow at Duke University North Carolina Leadership Forum, a member of VFW Post 10607 Auxiliary, Altamahaw-Ossipee Civitans, Union Ridge Church, North Carolina Bar, South Carolina Bar, District of Columbia Bar, and North Carolina Bar Association.
