Julia Howard, born August 20, 1944, is an American politician and a member of the Republican Party. She serves in the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 77, and assumed office on January 1, 2019.

Julia Craven Howard was born on August 20, 1944. She is a Republican member of the North Carolina General Assembly representing the state’s seventy-seventh House district, which includes constituents in Forsyth and Davie counties. She is a realtor from Mocksville, North Carolina and earned her degree from Salem College in two years.

Julia Howard is one of the longest serving members of the North Carolina Legislature. First elected to the state’s District 79 in 1989, she represented her constituents there for more than 30 years. In 2019, Howard was elected to represent District 77, where she currently serves Rowan County, Yadkin County and her home, Davie County.

As of the 2020 Census, North Carolina state representatives represented an average of 87,116 residents. After the 2010 Census, each member represented 79,715 residents. Members of the North Carolina House of Representatives serve two-year terms and are not subject to term limits. North Carolina legislators assume office on January 1 the year after their election.

Julia Howard assumed office on January 1, 2019. Her current term ends on January 1, 2025. Howard is running for re-election to the North Carolina House of Representatives to represent District 77. She is on the ballot in the general election on November 5, 2024.

Howard’s professional experience includes working as an appraiser and realtor.
