Catherine Ingram, a member of the Democratic Party, is an American politician serving in the Ohio State Senate, representing District 9. She assumed office on January 1, 2023.

As a public servant, university instructor, realtor, neighborhood leader, mom, and grandmother, Senator Catherine Ingram knows how much the decisions made in Columbus personally impact all of us.

Senator Ingram currently represents Ohio’s 9th Senate District. Prior to her time in the Senate, Ingram served three terms in the Ohio House representing the 32nd House District. Senator Ingram has been a member of the Cincinnati Board of Education for over 20 years, serving as president and vice president in the mid-90s. Senator Ingram has served on numerous board committees and, for many years, in a leadership role as Finance Committee chair in the Ohio House.

Ingram currently serves as the Ranking Member on the Senate Primary and Secondary Education, Workforce and Higher Education, and Medicaid Committees. She also serves on the Senate Health and Insurance Committees.

She earned her bachelor’s and Master of Business Administration from the University of Cincinnati. As an active member of her community, Ingram serves on boards of the United Way/Community Chest; Leadership Cincinnati; Great Rivers Girl Scout Council; Greater Cincinnati Black Achiever Award program; Mayerson Human Resource Academy; and Cincinnati Recreation Commission. Recognized as a leader in the community, Senator Ingram was honored with the Delta Sigma Theta Achieving Women Award and United Way/Community Chest Outstanding Service Award and recognized in the 2003-04 edition of Who’s Who in Black Cincinnati.

In 2000, she earned the prestigious honor of being just one of five board members in the state to be named to OSBA’s All-Ohio School Board. At the state and national levels, she served on OSBA’s Board of Trustees and Executive Committee and the Federal Relations Network. In addition, Senator Ingram was previously an instructor at Northern Kentucky University and remains a practicing realtor with Comey & Shepherd.

Senator Ingram represents the 9th Senate District, which encompasses parts of Hamilton County, including Cincinnati, Elmwood Place, Norwood, Springfield Township, St. Bernard, Amberly, Arlington Heights, Columbia Township (part), Fairfax, Golf Manor, Lincoln Heights, Lockland, Mariemont, Silverton, Sycamore Township (part), Woodlawn and Wyoming.
