Judith L. Schwank, a dedicated public servant and advocate for her community, has been a member of the Pennsylvania State Senate since 2011. Her journey to the Senate was marked by numerous accomplishments and roles in public service.

Before her election to the Senate, Schwank served as a Berks County Horticulture Agent for Penn State Cooperative Extension. In this role, she used her expertise to benefit the agricultural community in Berks County, contributing to its growth and sustainability.

Schwank’s commitment to public service extended beyond her role in the Cooperative Extension. She served as the President and CEO of 10,000 Friends of PA, an organization dedicated to improving the quality of life in Pennsylvania through advocating for responsible land use. Her leadership helped to shape the organization and amplify its impact.

In addition to her work with 10,000 Friends of PA, Schwank was the Dean of Agriculture & Environmental Science at Delaware Valley College. Her academic leadership contributed to the advancement of the college and its students.

In the year 2000, Schwank broke new ground by becoming the first female Berks County Commissioner. Her tenure as Commissioner was marked by her dedication to her constituents and her efforts to improve the county’s governance.

Currently, Schwank serves as the Minority Chair of the Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee. Her role allows her to influence policies that directly impact Pennsylvania’s agricultural sector and rural communities.

Schwank’s commitment to public service is further demonstrated by her membership on several boards. These include the Farm Show Commission, the Commission for Agriculture Education Excellence, the Center for Rural Pennsylvania, the United Way of PA, and the PA State System of Higher Education. Each of these roles allows her to make a positive impact on different aspects of life in Pennsylvania.

Since 2021, Schwank has served as the Caucus Administrator in the Senate. This role, which involves coordinating the legislative agenda for her party, allows her to have a direct impact on the laws and policies enacted in the state.
