Representative Timothy O'Neal - Contact Information

Timothy J. O’Neal is a Republican representative serving part of Washington County in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. He has been serving as the Republican Whip since 2018.

Personal History: Timothy is married to Julia and they have three children - Lucy, Daniel, and Simon. He is a lifelong resident of southwestern Pennsylvania. In his spare time, Timothy coaches football and enjoys spending time outdoors. He resides in South Strabane Township with his family.

Education: Timothy graduated from Jeannette High School in 1998. He then went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2003. He also holds an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Mining Technology from Pennsylvania State University, which he obtained in 2009. Later, he earned a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Pittsburgh in 2013.

Career: Timothy’s career began in the private sector. He relied on his private-sector experience to create and protect jobs, improve infrastructure, ensure energy diversity and independence, and reform state government. He served his third full term in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives after assuming office following a May 2018 special election.

Military Service: While an undergraduate, Timothy served in the ROTC program at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard. After graduation, he served on active duty, including a tour in Afghanistan. He rose to the rank of captain. While in combat, Timothy was awarded the Bronze Star with “V” for valor.

After returning from active duty, he chose to settle back in southwestern Pennsylvania. He worked in the energy industry and was a human resources director for a construction company before entering politics.
