Senator Rafael Santos Ortiz - Contact Information

He was born on October 23, 1978, a native of the town of Barranquitas. He began his studies at the Federico Degetau Second Unit School in Palo Hincado, Barranquitas. He started his university career at the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico, where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education. Subsequently, he completed a Master’s Degree in Education in Curriculum and Teaching at the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico. A prominent educator, community, and sports leader. Since the age of fourteen (14), he has distinguished himself as a communicator in the media, with sports broadcasting as his passion. For the past twenty-two (22) years, he served as a physical education teacher and teaching facilitator. His experience in public service began as a Special Assistant in the Senate and the House of Representatives of Puerto Rico. He served as Vice President of the Municipal Committee of the New Progressive Party in Coamo. Santos Ortiz has a long history as a leader of social and cultural initiatives, committed to social justice and progress. His focus has been to promote policies based on fostering and strengthening inclusive and transformative education, as well as equal opportunities for all. Throughout his career, he has been a defender of social inclusion, fighting for the removal of barriers affecting people with functional diversity, youth, and the elderly. In the general elections of November 4, 2008, he was elected as Senator for the District of Guayama. In the Senate, he chairs the Youth, Recreation, and Sports Committee and the Joint Commission for the Jorge A. Ramos Comas Legislative Internship Program of the Legislative Assembly.
