Senator Swanny Enit Vargas - Contact Information

Swanny Enit Vargas Laureano was born on November 22, 1995, in Arecibo. He developed and grew up in Barceloneta, where he spent his school training. His parents are Juan Enrique Vargas Sánchez and Sonia Noemí Laureano Jiménez.

He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Magna Cum Laude, from the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico.

He is pursuing a Master’s degree in political communication, crisis and emergency management, from the Nebrija University of Madrid.

From childhood she developed an interest in public service, inspired by her mother’s community service model.

She served as assistant commission work in the Women’s Affairs Commission; and Education and for the Promotion of Culture between 2015 and 2017. Then, between 2017 and 2021, she worked as an insurance adjuster in addressing the crises caused by hurricanes Irma, María and earthquakes.

In 2021, he returned to the work of the House of Representatives, serving as special assistant to the first vice president of the Nineteenth House of Representatives of Puerto Rico, José “Conny” Varela.

At the age of 19 she joined the National Popular Youth group, holding the position of vice president for the District of Arecibo. Later, she was elected vice president of said national organization. At 27 years old, she was elected to occupy the presidency of the youth representative body in the Popular Democratic Party. Then, he took on the challenge of making himself available for the elective position of representative by accumulation for the Popular Party in the November 2024 general election. He prevailed and, since January 2025, has held one of three seats due to his party’s accumulation in the Twentieth House of Representatives of Puerto Rico.

He is a member, representing the Popular Democratic Party, of the Youth Affairs commissions; Agriculture; Banking, Insurance and Commerce; Tourism; Ramos Comas and Córdova Fernós Boarding Schools.

Upon taking office, Swanny Enit Vargas Laureano expressed her commitment to “an unequivocal vocation to give up my productive years in public service. I am convinced that politics is an ideal means to seek my best contribution to the development of Puerto Rico. Likewise, I hope that many other young people and women see that the political field is the appropriate space to lead our country towards what it should be in accordance with its greatest potential and that it is possible to overcome the obstacles of what currently limits us as a country.”.
