Rep. Ramon A. Perez (D-Dist. 13, Providence, Johnston) was elected to the House of Representatives in November 2020. He previously served in the House in 2017-2018. He is a member of the House Special Legislation Committee, the House Labor Committee and the House Education Committee.

In 2023, Representative Perez introduced legislation which would make an assault on taxi drivers a felony punishable by up to three years imprisonment and an assault with a dangerous weapon punishable by five to 20 years imprisonment. He also sponsored legislation which would place a cap of 20 percent on increases in consecutive revaluations of real property in all cities and towns conducting revaluations and a bill that requires any operator of a motorcycle, motor scooter or motor-driven cycle to wear a helmet.

During the 2022 legislative session, Representative Perez introduced legislation to prevent the forced sale of real estate owned by persons who owe fire, water, sewer, road or lighting district charges. He also introduced a bill which allows individuals with concealed carry permits issued by other states to carry upon their person weapons in Rhode Island, provided that the issuing state recognizes and gives reciprocity to RI permit holders. ​Legislation which would limit residential rent increases to 10 percent annually was also introduced by Representative Perez.

He was born on November 20, 1971 and he is the owner of New England Taxi. Representative Perez is also a founding member of the Taxi Driver Union in Providence.

Representative Perez was raised in the El Millon section of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, where he graduated from high school in 1990. He also studied at Universidad Metropolitana in Puerto Rico from 1993 to 1995. He is also a community activist who previously ran for the State Senate seat in District 2 in 2012 and 2014.

Representative Perez resides in Providence with his wife Mayra.
