About Representative Russell Ott - Democratic Representative of South Carolina
Russell L. Ott is an American lobbyist and politician from the state of South Carolina. He is a member of the Democratic Party and represents the 93rd district in the South Carolina House of Representatives. Born in St. Matthews, South Carolina, Ott graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor’s degree in English. He later earned his Master of Public Administration from the University of South Carolina.
Before entering politics, Ott worked as a lobbyist for the South Carolina Farm Bureau Federation for eight years. His father, Harry L. Ott, Jr., previously held the same seat in the House but resigned in 2013. Russell declared his candidacy in the special election to fill the remainder of his father’s term and won, defeating Republican Charles Stoudemire.
In addition to his legislative duties, Ott serves on the House Legislative Oversight and the Labor, Commerce, and Industry Committees. He has also held the position of Assistant Minority Leader of the House. Recently, he announced his candidacy for the State Senate District 26 seat, which is currently held by incumbent Senator Nikki G. Setzler.
