Gabriela “Gabby” Salinas was born in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia. Her journey to public service is deeply rooted in her personal experiences and resilience. At the age of seven, she was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma, a rare form of cancer. This diagnosis led her family to relocate to Memphis, Tennessee, where she received treatment at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Her battle with cancer and the support she received during that time inspired her commitment to giving back to the community.

Gabby pursued her education with determination, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Christian Brothers University. Her academic achievements laid the foundation for her career as a research scientist, where she worked on pharmaceutical advancements. Her professional background reflects her dedication to science and innovation.

Before her successful campaign for the Tennessee House of Representatives, Gabby ran for public office multiple times, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to serving her community. In 2018, she ran for the Tennessee Senate District 31 seat but was defeated by the Republican incumbent. She also contested the 2020 election for the Tennessee House District 97 seat but faced another setback. However, her perseverance paid off in 2024 when she won the Democratic primary for District 96 and ran unopposed in the general election.
