Raumesh Aleza Akbari (born April 14, 1984) is an American politician who currently serves as a member of the Tennessee Senate for the 29th district. Prior to her role in the Senate, she represented the 91st district in the Tennessee House of Representatives.

Early Life and Education:

  • Akbari was born in Memphis, Tennessee, to parents Lisa and Hooshang. Her father is from Iran, and her mother is from Memphis. She has a fraternal twin named Raumina.
  • She graduated from Cordova High School in Memphis in 2002.
  • Akbari attended Washington University in St. Louis, where she earned a BA in African American studies and a minor in political science in 2006.
  • In 2009, she received her Juris Doctor from St. Louis University School of Law.
