Chip Troiano for Representative
CHIP TROIANO of Stannard, Vermont, Caledonia County Democrat serving his fifth term in the House, currently as Vice Chair of the Corrections and Institutions Committee. Born on Staten Island New York. Education: New Dorp High School Staten Island N.Y. Chip studied photography at Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and Social Science at Lyndon State College, Lyndonville VT. Chip is married to Regina and has one daughter. Chip had been employed as a criminal defense investigator, most recently for the law firm of Wiley and Power in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, retiring in 2015 after 34 years of service. He has been an instructor of forensic photography and sentencing options for the Vermont Defender General. Chip continues to serve as chair of the Board of Listers and until his first election to the house as town Moderator for the Town of Stannard holding both positions for 40+ years and he continues to serve as Justice of the Peace for 30 years. Chip is past president of the board of directors for Northeast Kingdom Youth Services, organizer of the second Diversion Board in Vermont. He currently serves on the board of Lamoille County Mental Health and the board of Rural Arts Collaborative. Chip also serves on the Hardwick area Equity Committee. Chip served a combat tour in Viet Nam 1966-67, serving as an air mobile Infantryman and a helicopter door gunner. Chip has been involved in veterans issues over the past years, lecturing at local high schools and colleges, church groups and veterans organizations on the history of the Viet Nam war. In 2007-2008 Chip traveled to Viet Nam working on the production and appearing in a documentary film recording the journey back to Viet Nam by himself and other VN veterans. In T he past Chip showed his film “Viet Nam the Reconciliation” to a standing room only crowd in the State House. Member of the House of Representatives: 2015– present.
