• In law school, Chris served as Chairman of the UVA Chapter of the Federalist Society, the nation’s premier conservative legal organization.
• He held leadership positions in various Republican organizations, including the Montgomery County Republican Party, the Radford City Republican Party, the Richmond City Republican Party, and the Bridgewater College Republicans.
• Chris also chartered and chaired the Roanoke/NRV Young Republicans.

• His grandfather, Dr. Sam Obenshain, was a farmer and agronomy professor at Virginia Tech, actively involved in the community for over 60 years.
• Chris’ father, Joe Obenshain, served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and worked as an Assistant County Attorney for Roanoke County.
• Continuing this legacy, Chris has served 19 years in the U.S. Army Reserve, rising from an enlisted Soldier to a Major in the U.S. Army Reserve JAG Corps.
• In 2018, he was mobilized to active duty, defending Soldiers facing Courts-Martial and other legal actions.
• Chris has worked at all levels of government, from Capitol Hill to Richmond, and has argued cases in various courts across Virginia.
