Eric Tarr is a dedicated and experienced candidate for the West Virginia State Senate, with a proven track record in both public service and business. Having been married to Natalie Tarr for over 30 years, they have raised two sons and a daughter who attended schools in Mason and Putnam Counties. Eric holds a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree, is Board Certified as an Orthopedic Specialist, and also possesses an MBA. His educational journey includes studies at Eastern Kentucky University, the University of Kentucky, Simmons College, Harvard, and Thomas Jefferson University.

In his professional career, Eric has held numerous leadership roles within the West Virginia Physical Therapy Association, including State Affairs Chairman, Federal Affairs Chairman, PAC Chairman, Secretary, Vice President, Liaison to the WV Board of Physical Therapy, and President. He is also an active Board Member of the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce.

Since his election to the Senate in 2019, Eric has served in several key legislative positions, including Chairman of Senate Finance, Vice Chairman of the Senate Health and Human Resources Committee, Co-Chairman of the Joint Committees on Health and the Legislative Oversight Committee on Health and Human Resources, and Chairman of the Interim Committee on Technology. His extensive policy experience also includes roles as Policy Advisor to the West Virginia Senate Chairman of Senate Health, West Virginia Senate Majority Leader, and Advisor in various caucuses. His expertise in healthcare policy, business in healthcare, and payment policy has made him a sought-after speaker at both state and national levels.

Eric’s dedication to education and entrepreneurship is evident in his volunteer work, where he speaks to high school and college students about career and entrepreneurial opportunities. He has also served as adjunct faculty for West Virginia University, Marshall University, Wheeling Jesuit University, and the University of Kentucky.

Raised in a Christian home with a strong work ethic and a focus on caring for others, he and his family opened their first business in Putnam County in 1997. This venture sparked his interest in state and federal policy, motivating him to seek answers and solutions for his community.

As a Physical Therapist, Eric has served countless residents in their homes, hospitals, and his own practice. His policy work has significantly improved healthcare in West Virginia, making it more attractive to providers and reducing the financial burden on patients. Over the past 20+ years, Eric has founded, partnered in, and acquired over 20 businesses across multiple industries, including physical therapy, fitness, real estate development, storage, commercial leasing, retail, building materials, marketing, party and event management, equipment leasing, practice management, heating and cooling, plumbing, and construction. He believes in the potential of West Virginia and advocates for leveraging the state’s resources and relationships to create opportunities.
