About Representative Kristina Shelton - Democratic Representative of Wisconsin
Kristina Marie Shelton (née Sandherr) was born on June 2, 1980, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is currently a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing Wisconsin’s 90th Assembly district since 2021. Prior to her role in the Assembly, Kristina served on the Green Bay Area School Board.
Her educational journey took her to Pennsylvania State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology, physical, and health education. Later, she pursued a master’s degree in science and health promotion management at Marymount University. Kristina also taught in the Health and Physical Education department at Northern Virginia Community College.
In 2019, she successfully challenged the incumbent and won the Democratic primary, securing her place in the Wisconsin State Assembly. During her tenure, Kristina has been dedicated to creating healthier and more equitable communities for all residents.
Outside of politics, Kristina is a certified yoga instructor. She is married to Jon Shelton, a professor of history and Democracy & Justice Studies at the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay, and they have two children, Sara and Keith.
