Melissa Ratcliff is a Democratic Party member serving in the Wisconsin State Senate, representing the 16th District. She assumed office on January 6, 2025, and her current term is set to end on January 3, 2029.

Melissa Ratcliff has a rich history of public service and community involvement. Before her tenure in the State Senate, she served in the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing the 46th Assembly District during the 2023–2024 term. Her political journey began at the local level, where she was a member of the Dane County Board of Supervisors for six years and served on the Cottage Grove Village Board for four years. These roles allowed her to deeply engage with her community and address local issues effectively.

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Melissa grew up in Wausau and graduated from Wausau East High School. She later earned her paralegal certification from Madison Area Technical College and worked as a paralegal for 24 years. Her professional background has equipped her with a strong understanding of legal and administrative processes, which she brings to her legislative work.

Throughout her career, Melissa has been a staunch advocate for various causes, including reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ health and safety, broadband access, housing affordability, and family-friendly policies like affordable childcare. Melissa is also an active volunteer and community member. She has been recognized for her contributions, including being named Ally of the Year in 2024 by the Sun Prairie Colonial Club. Currently residing in Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, Melissa enjoys spending time with her two children, Dan and Adeline, and their two dogs, Lucy and Ricky.
